Overview

Ronin is Makers Academy’s online version of their full-time 12-week in-person coding bootcamp based in London. The course is based on their award-winning curriculum - developed with top software engineers - giving you a clear path to a job as a junior web developer. The platform connects you with other students, allowing you to pair-program remotely with them in real-time. Graduates of Ronin are trained to be highly employable 'artisan' developers, just like the students at Makers Academy HQ, and get interview training, doing practise technical tests, and introductions to Makers Academy Hiring Partner Network, which includes some of the most exciting tech companies in the UK.

The instruction is based on a peer-to-peer model allowing students to learn through creative, project-driven development, similar to the workplace. While you'll have access to an experienced course facilitator who'll guide you at all times, provide workshops and breakout sessions & giving help when needed, the vast majority of your learning will be supported by the other members of your cohort. Students are expected to work online 60+ hours a week, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. (GMT), Monday to Friday. The first half of the course focuses on the fundamentals of web development, and the second half focuses heavily on students creating at least 3 real-life projects for their portfolio. You'll also get to work on team projects, sometimes delivering work for a client, mimicking the work you'll be doing when you start your life as a developer.
