Successfully completing a MOOC proves you can work indepedently, without supervision and effectively self-motivate yourself. Plus you're an early adopter who enjoys trying new things. It's a huge selling point even if currently it's not yet widely recognized by traditional HR departments.
Therefore I have to disagree with previous answers. Any certification proving skills mentioned above will make you more competitive.
And imho the value of such certifications will grow over time.
