StraighterLine
StraighterLine is a U.S. online educational site that offers low-price, online introductory level higher education courses that are covered in the first two years of most college degree plans. Straighterline itself is not accredited, but has partnerships with 80+ accredited colleges and universities that accept its courses for credit if you transfer. Having also been evaluated and recommended by the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT), StraighterLine courses will also be considered by more than 2,000 other colleges and universities for transfer to their degree programs upon request. 14 institutions also offer scholarships to students who successfully complete four StraighterLine courses.
Students can choose from over 60 online college courses for $99 a month plus $49 a course, and can opt for self-paced or professor-led course formats that includes professor videos, office hours and exam study guides. (The cost of the professor-led courses is higher). Assessment is carried out via exams, quizzes, and essays. Proctored exams are included in the cost of enrolment. Two lessons of each course are free, and students can get a full refund if they do not take any assessments.
Online students are supported by advisor teams via email, telephone, or by a live chat service, and the programs include 10 hours of one-on-one tutoring. Additional help is available at extra cost if required.
N.B. textbooks and eTextbooks must be purchased separately.
