Google designs an innovative training program and commits 10,000 scholarships to prepare Americans for careers in IT Support
IT support roles are in high demand and expected to grow 10% in the United States by 2026. To make these well-paying jobs within reach for more people, we’re proud to launch the Google IT Support Professional Certificate on Coursera today. Learners who enter this program will get the chance to learn sought-after skills through hands-on labs designed by Google experts.
At Coursera, we’re dedicated to our mission of creating a world where anyone, anywhere can transform their life through access to the best learning experience. These courses help us fulfill that mission, because they offer an affordable path to the skills people need to get hired. Without any prior training or college degree, the program is designed to help anyone get ready to become an IT Support Specialist in just 8 to 12 months.
Google and Coursera share a vision of helping people gain the knowledge they need to launch their career. To make tech training available to as many people as possible, Google will provide financial assistance for over 10,000 people in the U.S. in 2018. As part of that commitment, Google.org is providing scholarships and support to nonprofits like Goodwill®, Per Scholas, Year Up, Student Veterans of America, and Upwardly Global that are bringing the certificate to underserved groups. Google is also providing full financial assistance for qualified learners in the U.S. who apply by February 20th.
To ensure the greatest impact, learners who complete the six courses in the certificate will be able to use our platform to share their information with employers like Bank of America, Walmart, Sprint, GE Digital, PNC Bank, Infosys, TEKSystems, UPMC, and, of course, Google.
Learners who enroll in the program will benefit from a deeply engaging learning experience that combines fundamental theory with lots and lots of practice. Here are some of the unique features in the Google IT Support Professional Certificate courses:
