Each specialization program contains a number of courses within it - you don't choose which ones. You have to do them all in order to complete the final project which earns you the certificate.

I currently use Duolingo. One of the best I have ever used. But I strongly believe that you should not stay touched only to one site. We must use a combination of them

That's a very valid point Giorgos. What other sites have you used? Are there others that you would recommend?

There seem to be a very limited choice of language MOOCs compared to other subjects. I guess it may be because there are already good free websites that do language courses.

I totally agree with you Carolyn. If you just google ex. "learning chinese free", you can find hundreds of sites for this reason. But MOOCs mainly focus, untill now, into other fields

This is quite a good article listing some of the sites that offer free courses with a summary of what each one offers: (Viewed on Mooc Scoop http://www.mooclab.club/link-forums/mooc-scoop.47/)

It seems like these days you can learn just about anything online for free, but of course some of that information is better than others. The good news is there are plenty of reputable places to educate yourself online for free, and here’s a good 20 of them to get you started.... http://www.lifehack.org/articles/productivity/20-places-educate-yourself-online-for-free.html

Hi @abrimo. I've now added OpenLearning to the poll options. It would be great if you could share why you prefer this platform.

Hi @Jos Maassen. The platforms listed in the poll are MOOC providers whereas Curatr is a course creation site.

I will start a new thread inviting members to recommend other sites like this, and from this we can then create a list :).

Has anyone signed up for any of Coursera's Specialization courses yet?

I'm also keen to know more about these specialisation courses. I think they are a great idea and seem like a good option, but I'm not sure how the payment works. Can I wait until I've finished all the courses before I pay. I want to be sure I actually want the certificate.

Apparently you can with the "new risk-free Signature Track Trial ". You only pay at the end.

From Coursera website:
What is the Signature Track trial?
Select courses offer a free trial to begin verfiying your work so you can qualify for your Verified Certificate. With the trial, payment for Signature Track can be delayed anytime up until the week before the course ends — so you’ll be more certain that you’ll earn your Verified Certificate.
