Udemy has come under criticism for selling pirated courses. The controversy began this week, when security specialist Troy Hunt discovered that one of his courses on ethical hacking was available on Udemy under another author's name. As The Next Web reports, the video had been edited to remove Hunt's introduction at the beginning, but was otherwise unchanged from the version available on Pluralsight, the video's copyright holder. On Udemy, the pirated course was available for £37 ($56).

Udemy are simplifying their pricing structure to be more intuitive, predictable, and accessible. Effective April 4, 2016, all paid Udemy courses will be priced from £15- £45 ($20 and $50 each). They will also continue to support free courses.

Udemy's new pricing structure has now gone live.

Paid courses are now priced between $20 and $50 each with free courses still being offered.

For courses purchased prior to April 4th 2016, Udemy will honor the best price available, as long as the course is still available for purchase on Udemy.
