    MOOC providers often award certificates on completion of a course on the condition that certain criteria have been met.

    There are usually different certificate options, some of which may be free of charge and others which incur a relatively small fee, and may offer identity verification. This information can usually be found on the course description page.

    With most MOOC providers, obtaining a certificate is optional.

    Currently and in most cases, obtaining a MOOC certificate does not entitle you to college credit.
