"People write much bigger & flashier programs than you not because they're that much smarter, but because they know something about managing complexity that you don't. No, procedures and a bunch of globals are not 'as good as it gets'. Ask your parents to take you to some university where somebody will give you a list of books to read (don't worry, eventually you'll get this thing called 'the Internet', so you won't have to travel a hundred kilometers and carry heavy books around)."
