First of all, it's not a given that starting early will result in being a better programmer, I've seen *very* late starters totally outperform old hands in the real world.
Second of all, accept that there will be people better than you, it's only egotism getting in the way if you don't. I've been programming for over 25 years, but I'll gladly accept there are people better than me at it, people who've been doing it for a shorter time too.
It's life, accept it.
