MOOC platform Coursera recently published their most popular courses of 2020. The list highlights how the COVID-19 pandemic generated a particular interest in mental health with the course The Science of Well-Being (Yale) topping the list. Equally, courses directly related to COVID delivered by leading health experts proved very popular with Coursera learners with COVID-19 Contact Tracing from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health taking the second position among the most popular courses this year.

Coursera's list of most popular courses also demonstrates that learners were looking to future-proof their careers with in-demand skills in business, technology, and data science. University of Michigan's Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python) and Machine Learning from Stanford feature in the top 10, as well as English for Career Development from the University of Pennsylvania.

Unsurprisingly, with so many of us confined to our homes throughout the pandemic, many learners turned to personal development courses such as Learning How to Learn from McMaster University and UC San Diego, Introduction to Psychology from Yale or Yonsei University’s First Step Korean, all of which made it to Courera's top 10 courses of 2020.
