Overview
Firehose was set up to over 4 years ago to close the technical skills gap by giving people the in-demand technical skills that aren’t taught in traditional 4-year college programs. The Firehose Project is an immersive full-time (22 weeks) or part-time (42 weeks) virtual apprenticeship that is designed to help launch an idea into a real web application, and includes career support, 1-on-1 training, and a dedicated team of trainers to help each member get the most out of the program. Topics covered include Ruby-on-Rails and JavaScript with some basic front-end (HTML & CSS), and a focus on user experience. The curriculum is tailored to the student's individual goals and schedule. Coding starts on the first day of the course, and students work with an experienced mentor on a weekly 1-to-1 basis to build their coding skills through 3 hands-on projects, each increasing in complexity . Further support is provided via lesson Q&A forums and technical office hours with experienced real web developers. Classes start every Monday.
