Overview
Launch School (formerly Tealeaf Academy) offers an immersive online program designed to slowly build up proficiency in fundamentals, while at the same time exposing you to new workflows and practices. The curriculum is primarily geared towards those who are looking to transition to a long career in software development, requiring 500 to 800 hours of time commitment to successfully complete the course and become job ready.
The program is made up of a series of phases, beginning with free preparatory work covering the prequisite knowledge necessary before starting the main courses. Once subscribed, users then have access to courses in Programming and Back-end Development, Front-end Development, Frameworks, Integrations and Advanced Topics. Each phase will contain several courses, along with assessments. You must pass each assessment to move forward. On successful completion of the program, Launch School offers graduates 1 on 1 job placement mentorship.
The self-paced courses are delivered using the Flipped Classroom style, with pre-recorded lectures, assignments and video walk-throughs with support from instructors and teaching assistants. Each course is divided into lessons, and each lesson has a separate discussion forum. The assignments are project-based with everyone working on the same project.
