Why isn't there a programming language which I can just talk to, and tell it what to do?

When I was in first or second grade, there was a lesson where we took turns describing how to tie our shoes, step by step, while the teacher took the tiniest ambiguity to do the wrong thing. It took the entire class to correct all the problems and get the shoe tied.

Since your computer has absolutely no interest in your needs, you need to specify every detail about what needs to happen. The language is the least-complicated part of the process. You'd go hoarse if you spoke it out loud.
