I am considering an online degree and I'd like to hear from anyone who has already got one. How was the experience and how do employers react to online degrees?

It would depend on the university offering the degree and whether it is accredited or not. It is VERY IMPORTANT to check this before you sign up to an online degree. You'll find accreditation information on the provider's website and on the online degree page.
The reputation of the university is also important if you want your online degree to be recognised by employers. There are lots of sites where you can find university league tables (just google "university league tables"). With most reputable universities, your diploma will be the same one that a campus student would get so employers won't even know that you got the degree online.
