Overview
One of the world's premier academic and research institutions, the University of Chicago has driven new ways of thinking since its 1890 founding. Today, UChicago is an intellectual destination that draws inspired scholars to its Hyde Park and international campuses. Students in the undergraduate College broaden their perspectives on world issues in the rigorous Core curriculum. Graduate programs include four divisions, six professional schools, and the Graham School of Continuing Liberal Arts and Professional Studies.
University scientists lead the country in scientific and technological innovations, often in partnership with its three affiliated laboratories: Argonne National Laboratory, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, and the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. The University, which is the second-largest employer in Chicago, has an enrollment of more than 15,000 degree candidates and more than 177,000 alumni worldwide.
