    Fundada en 1623 y dirigida por los jesuitas, la Universidad Javeriana es una institución privada y sin fines de lucro de educación superior. Se establece legalmente bajo la ley eclesiástica, reconocida por el Estado de Colombia para operar y autorizada para otorgar títulos académicos. Formalmente acreditada, tiene una oferta académica flexible y articulada centrada en la orientación personal del estudiante que es característico de la educación jesuítica, y también con el apoyo de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación.

    La Universidad es reconocida a nivel nacional por su influencia en el desarrollo de Colombia. Se articula con otras instituciones de educación superior, centros de investigación y de desarrollo nacionales e internacionales, especialmente con aquellos que pertenecen a la Compañía de Jesús. La formación integral del ser humano y la conservación, transmisión y desarrollo de la ciencia y la cultura, más allá de los aspectos puramente informativos y técnicos de la educación, caracterizan su propósito educativo específico.

    Con una vocación interdisciplinar, la Universidad actualmente abarca 22 escuelas y 242 programas académicos para los estudiantes y graduados. Sus 3.750 profesores atienden a más de 42.000 estudiantes en su sede en Bogotá y en Cali. Los programas de educación continua que se ofrecen en el campus y en línea, llega a más de 30.000 cada año, teniendo presencia en Barranquilla, Pereira, Pasto, Manizales y Bucaramanga (Colombia), así como Guatemala, Panamá, República Dominicana y Honduras (Centro América).

    Desde el año 2003 la Universidad creó dos centros de innovación educativa que soportan servicios de enseñanza, investigación y extensión a través del uso de la información y la comunicación (TIC) para el fortalecimiento de la cultura de su uso reflexivo en el contexto educativo para los programas de la escuela y en línea, así como MOOCs.

    Founded in 1623 and governed by the Jesuits, the Universidad Javeriana is a private and not-for-profit institution of higher education. It is legally established under ecclesiastical law, recognized by the Colombian State to operate and authorized to award academic degrees. Formally accredited, it has a flexible and articulated academic offering focused on the personal guidance of the student that is characteristic of Jesuit education, and well supported by Information and Communication Technologies.

    The University is nationally recognized for its influence on Colombia’s development. It articulates with other higher education institutions and national and international research and development centers, especially with those belonging to the Society of Jesus. The comprehensive formation of the human being and the conservation, transmission and development of science and culture, transcending the purely informative and technical aspects of education, characterize its specific educational purpose.

    With an interdisciplinary vocation, the University currently encompasses 22 schools and 242 academic programs for undergraduate and graduate students. Its 3,750 professors serve over 42.000 students at its headquarters in Bogota and in Cali. The continuing education programs offered on campus and on-line, serve some 30,000 more each year, having presence in Barranquilla, Pereira, Pasto, Manizales and Bucaramanga (Colombia), as well as Guatemala, Panamá, República Dominicana and Honduras (Centro América).

    Since 2003 the University created two educational innovation centers supporting teaching, research and extension services through the use of information and communication technology (ICT) for strengthening the culture of its reflective use in the educational context for on campus and online programs as well as MOOCs.

    Information about the World University Rankings
    World university rankings can be used as an indicator of a university's prospects and prestige. Ranking publishers use different performance indicators such as teaching quality, research quality or the ratio of staff to students to place higher education institutions in order of success and impact. Results across the different rankings will vary according to the measures used and the importance they place on the different performance indicators.

    The rankings listed above are taken from three of the most trusted World University Rankings publishers with the addition of the first ever World University Rankings by MOOC Performance published by MoocLab.

    Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE)
    The Times Higher Education World University Rankings focus on 5 core areas: Teaching (30%); Research (30%); Citations (30%); International outlook (7.5%); and Industry Income (2.5%). See their methodology

    MoocLab's World University Rankings by MOOC Performance rank universities based on 5 performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across the number of MOOCs provided (10%), the provision of learning pathways (15%), micro-credentials (20%), degrees (20%) and the institution's average world ranking (35%).
