GCFLearnFree creates and provides free, self-paced, online tutorials across 85 skills including technology, literacy and math skills needed to be successful in both work and life. The site delivers over 2,000 different lessons and learners can choose to view only one lesson or to complete an entire tutorial. Students can access the content without registering, but will need to create an account for additional features such as learning history tracking. The tutorials are delivered through video, audio, text, games and interactive activities.
A few online classes are also available for free and include access to lessons, challenges, quizzes and instructors who are available to offer support through a message center. Learners can obtain a Certification of Completion and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) on completion of a class. To complete a class (and earn a certificate and CEU), a learner must submit three assignments, meet all class deadlines and submit an end-of-course survey. Classes can take between 4 days and 4 weeks.
