Stanford Online is a website offering 100+ free online courses taught by Stanford faculty to lifelong learners worldwide. The site offers both scheduled and self-paced courses categorised into 10 subject areas and offered through a number of different platforms, including Coursera, NovoEd and Stanford’s own open-source platform, Stanford OpenEdX. Depending on the course format, courses include lecture videos, interactive exercises and quizzes, assignments and exams. Some courses offer a statement of accomplishment on completion of the course.
Users can search by topic, platform and course status (In session, Upcoming, Self-paced etc). Students access the courses via the course page which generally gives a course overview, syllabus, instructor bio and a FAQ section.
No registration is required to use the website, although users will have to register on the platform hosting the course. Stanford Online open courses do not award degrees.
