MOOC Platform NPTEL

NPTEL is an acronym for National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning which is an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in engineering and science. NPTEL is directed towards providing learning materials in Science and Engineering by adhering to the syllabi of All India Council for Technical Education and the slightly modified curricula of major affiliating Universities. NPTEL aims to create the largest video repository of technical lecture-courses in the world in the streaming video format which will be helpful to everyone who is interested in enhancing his/her learning.

The platform offers a library of free self-learning video and web lectures as well as free online courses with the option to take an in-person proctored certification exam for a nominal fee. The courses cover topics such as agriculture, computer science, management studies, mathematics and basic science, engineering and humanities. The courses run over 4, 8, or 12 weeks and are suited to students in higher education, with some basic core courses in sciences and humanities.
