Kadenze is a MOOC platform bringing together educators, artists, and engineers from leading universities across the globe to provide world-class education in the fields of art and creative technology. Kadenze is pronounced kah-den-zay (kəˈdɛnzɛ) and is the derived from the musical term, cadenza. In western music, a cadenza is an opportunity for artists to test their skills, their creativity, and their imaginations through improvisation.
The platform offers both individual courses and Programs made up of a series of courses designed to help you become a Specialist in a specific subject. Many of the individual courses can be audited for free, but enrolling in a program can cost from $500 to $900 By earning a Certificate of Accomplishment in each course within a Program, learners can then receive a shareable Specialist Certificate endorsed by Kadenze and the offering institution(s).
Kadenze users can choose between two kinds of accounts: Free or Premium for $20/month. As a Free User, you can enroll in many of the courses Kadenze offers, watch lecture videos and view forum discussions. Upgrading to Premium Membership gives you additional benefits which allow you to submit assignments, receive grades, collaborate with peers, build a portfolio, earn a verified certificate of accomplishment, and receive discounts on course materials.
Upon completion of a course, learners receive a verified Course Completion Record, a form of certificate that details all of the course's learning outcomes (skills learned during that course).
Kadenze also offers college credit for some courses which are recognized by the offering institution. The transfer of credits into or between institutions is at the sole discretion of the issuing and receiving institutions. Some institutions may require additional information from you in order to generate an official academic transcript.
