Well they most likely will work. But they are not the best way to learn hacking.
Some resources for a good hacker are free! Grab Kali Linux and read the documentation. Go to http://null-byte.wonderhowto.com. Find tutorials online. Hire a server and test against it. Try cracking your own wifi passwords. Signup at http://hackforums.net and read some articles there! Learn C and C++ and try to write an app that breaks your computer! (haha don't try on your own of course. get a VM and try it there). Learn PHP as well, this will come useful! Download viruses and analyse them inside a VM. Download source code for apps and modify them! Find someone who knows about hacking and talk to them. Try to bring down Facebook using a ping flood from 1 computer with 16kbps line! Pay a few bucks for a website, install Wordpress on it and then play around, hacking it!
