We are honored to announce that the University of Oxford, the Times Higher Education number one globally ranked university, has joined edX.

We are thrilled to partner with Oxford, a world-leading centre of learning, teaching and research and the oldest university in the English-speaking world, to further our shared mission to improve lives and increase access to high quality education for learners everywhere. Our collaboration begins with content from the Blavatnik School of Government to provide our nine million learners with access to an innovative program that offer insights from a range of academic disciplines and a strong global outlook.

The University of Oxford’s course on edX is From Poverty to Prosperity: Understanding Economic Development. The course, led by Professor Paul Collier, is designed to teach learners about the impact of economic and governmental processes on global development. It offers a look at the social, economic and political factors that can affect development, in addition to examining the external conditions that can contribute to the process. Learners will explore the ways in which poor societies can become prosperous, by examining the paths that countries across the world have taken to achieve successful economic development.

The course is open for enrollment today and begins in February 2017.

This course from the University of Oxford marks the beginning of an exciting partnership and we look forward to sharing news of more courses in the future.

Please join me in welcoming the University of Oxford to edX.
