I was a huge fan of The Teaching Company. Back in the early 2000's, I happily paid hundreds of dollars so I could listen to their various history lecture series during my commute.
This said, there's really no need to pay for these types of courses anymore.
You can hear great lectures from excellent instructors - many of whom are at the top of their field - through Coursera or edX.
Considering that these free online courses also include exercises, exams, and certifications, I suspect that they have already massively disrupted The Teaching Company's business model.
It's hard to justify spending $100 on a The Teaching Company course when Coursera and EdX courses are just as good, and available for free.
