From a business owner perspective, I want to know everything that a potential employee is doing learn - whether that's business-related courses on Coursera, Udacity, and Udemy - or personal hobbies such as Martial Arts training, endurance races, and book clubs. I'm looking for the drive to constantly learn and self-improve.
I also know that these are self-paced courses without any academic certification, and frankly, the certification is irrelevant. I'll take a person that run through 10+ self-paced courses, writes on a personal blog, and regularly attends tech events and Meetups over someone with a standard college degree that hasn't accomplished more than writing a business plan in their capstone business simulation class.
(More on my thinking here: How do you tell (in an interview) if someone has the potential to become a great B2B salesperson?)
