People who are less outgoing will struggle everywhere. Developer bootcamps are no exception.

  1. It's hard to find out about good job opportunities if you don't actively network, or at least hang out with other coders at meetups, student groups and hackerspaces.
  2. Job interviews are essentially sales pitches. Assuming you can answer all their whiteboard problems, the hire will come down to "cultural fit", which is really just code for "do people like you?"
  3. Once you're hired, you'll spend maybe half your day coding, and the rest of it communicating (in meetings, Slack, email, etc.). If you can't sell your ideas to your team, you'll be a forgettable person who's passed over for promotion.

You should learn how to be more outgoing. I had to, and I'm glad I did.
