  • The University of Derby Online Learning is the thriving distance learning division of the University of Derby.

    Since 2001, the University of Derby has offered online distance learning to students who required more flexible study options. As demand for these popular online distance learning courses increased, we learned to tailor course content specifically for online delivery. And in 2011, based on the increasing success of our distance learning courses, we launched the University of Derby Online Learning (UDOL).

    Today, our online distance learning degrees continue to match the high academic standards you would expect on campus in any British university. And we continue to exploit the latest research into online study to refine course delivery and increase the success of our online distance learning students.

  • We recognise that paying for your course fees can be a significant outlay and it is important that you make the right decisions about financing your studies and for you to be aware of the funding options available to you.

    To make your studies more affordable, we offer a choice of payment plans allowing you to spread the cost over monthly payments or to benefit from a discount should you pay upfront.

    Student loans are now available for part-time students. You may be eligible for a Tuition Fee Loan or a Professional and Career Development Loan to help pay for your tuition fees.

    There is funding and allowances available to students too. Depending on your circumstances you may be eligible for a Disabled Students’ Allowance or career specific funding such as ELC funding for the British Armed Forces.

    You could also benefit from our discounts and savings. Our 10% alumni loyalty discount is available to University of Derby graduates and all students can take advantage of great savings and offers with well-known brands and retailers with the NUS Extra Student discount card.

    Additionally, through our accreditations, some of our programmes include student membership with the professional body, a great way of accessing valuable membership benefits during your studies.

    Online course fees for 2016/17
    Our online course fees are reviewed each Spring and updated for courses starting in September onwards.

  • We've tried to make applying for your course online as easy as possible. And our step by step guide tells you what to expect during your application and after a successful offer.

    Step 1- Start your online application.
    It’s free to apply and you have 90 days to complete your application so don’t worry if you don’t have everything to hand right now.

    Step 2 - Submit your online application.
    Provide as much detail as you can and we will send you an email acknowledging receipt of your application.

    Step 3 - Wait for a response.
    Our Online Admissions Advisors will review your application and contact you within 1 working week. If your application is successful, we will make you an ‘unconditional' offer. If we still need some additional information from you (eg evidence of your qualifications and experience including certificates and references) we may make you a conditional offer. If your application is unsuccessful on this occasion, we will email you to let you know.

    Step 4 - Time to enrol
    We’ll ask you to enrol onto your course about 4 – 6 weeks before the start of term. For example, if you apply to start your course in September enrolment will open approximately mid-August.

    Step 5 - ... and pay
    You, or your sponsor, will need to pay when you enrol. See details of our payment plans and notes for sponsors for easy ways to pay.
