Open2Study - The End of Free Courses

In 2013, the Open Universities Australia (OUA) launched Open2Study, a MOOC platform offering 50 free courses focusing on concrete career skills. The courses, which included free course certificates, were sourced from the Australian universities involved with the Open Universities consortium and also from corporate partners.

It has become apparent that the site has been quietly closing down their free offering by gradually removing courses from their catalogue of free courses. There currently remains only four free courses on the Open2Study website which will no doubt soon disappear too.

Although the course provider hasn't made any official announcement yet, it seems clear it intends on focusing on its paid accredited courses. These courses, available through Open Universities Australia, cover both university and vocational study and offer associate, bachelor and master degree programs.

The Open2Study website proudly states they had 1,258,346 students from 246 countries benefiting from their free courses. That will make a lot of disappointed students.
