Morning, the Skype link is still available for folks to join and try to meet up to study. I'm going to step away for a little bit as would love to have more engagement but I'm not sure how, and don't have the time to pour my all into trying to make it happen.

What times do you typically study? Include your time zone because it'd be confusing otherwise lol

Has anyone used Jitsi before? It seems like a good alternative to Skype that's also free.

Why not use Zoom? It is the most convenient one

Because of the security concerns with Zoom and it's limited to 40 minutes free and up to 10 people (i think). we don't use zoom for work so i don't have a higher tiered account. Skype allows up to 4 hours with the meet room option but 50 folks. Jitsi I'm not sure. Cisco is unlimited time and 100 people..

  1. If interested, I've created a meeting room for folks. The link is open to join any time. Since this is library style you can study any subject. Being in the eastern time zone I'll typically be on (if I don't have other meetings) during evenings, and on the weekends. Feel free to share your timezone, and folks can start meeting. You don't need a Skype acct to join. Depending on how using Skype goes it's possible to switch to something different as well (not Zoom).

I created an event for Saturday for the first time. Although it'll be closer to the evening for both of you, I hope you're able to catch each other! I'll be on during by 10am for sure. Sometimes mornings are a slow start for me. I'm not sure what all folks can see when viewing the group. I'm assuming the calendar can be viewed but are you able to create an event as well?

Welcome and thanks so much for joining. Study this study group practices an open join concept on the Skype call. Introduce yourself and share what you're studying currently.

Skype calls rules: 1. minimum to no talking. Use chat to conversate. 2. Be respectful in the chat and on video. 3. Mute the mic so that pets and other people don't distract others. More may be added but just starting out.

When joining a Skype call feel free to share what you're studying currently and what you soon to accomplish during your time such as read one chapter, write five pages, solve 4 equations. Whatever it is it should have a number so that you can measure if you've achieved your goal.
